Sara Palmisano - Dance Instructor
Sara Palmisano is currently in the process of gaining her Master of Fine Arts at the College at Brockport, SUNY. While a graduate student at the College of Brockport, Sara has acted as the concert coordinator, graduate assistant, and production assistant.
Prior to starting graduate school, Sara graduated from the College at Brockport with her Bachelors in Fine Arts for Dance. Sara had the opportunity to participate in the National Conference of Undergraduate Research during her sophomore year. During her senior year, Sara presented her Senior Honors Thesis on how one may alter their view of a performance by acknowledging the process that came before said performance. In addition to research, Sara has actively participated in performance and choreography.
Over the course of her schooling—undergrad and graduate—Sara had the opportunity to dance for Maura Keefe, assist in the restaging of Trisha Brown’s Set and Reset, assist in restaging Doug Varone’s Strict Love, and continually dance with Amy Sullivan. Sara’s choreography appeared in different concerts throughout her years at the College at Brockport. Perhaps her most notable work was the choreographic component—7. Breathe Slowly—of her Senior Honors Thesis in May 2016.
Another prominent role that Sara exemplifies is as a teacher. During her 2nd year of graduate school, Sara taught Introduction to Dance to non-major students as part of her graduate assistantship. During her third year of her MFA, she taught Modern for Non-Majors. In addition to teaching college age students, Sara has experience teaching middle and high school students at local dance studios. Currently, she teaches at Strike It Up Artistic Center in Ontario, NY and STILLA Dance in Scottsville, NY.
